Session summary: Watershed restoration and conservation projects are a win-win for the environment and water users, but the pursuit of multi-benefit projects requires a complex mix of staffing and resources, organizational support, technical assistance, and funding. This presentation will focus on lessons learned from three organizations on scaling local capacity for multi-benefit projects through policy advocacy, a pilot agricultural coordinator program and white paper, and a funding navigator program.
Key takeaways include: change (towards more funding for local capacity) happens through storytelling, honest conversations, partnerships, and flexibility; when we understand organizational and project capacity needs, we are better suited as capacity builders to provide support.
