Building capacity to address new conservation issues is a chronic challenge that nonprofit organizations face. Through a case study of the Sister Rivers Initiative, a collaboration between Conservation Resource Alliance (Michigan) and Friends of the Cheat (West Virginia), this presentation will highlight the benefits of in-depth knowledge sharing across NGOs. Positive results included mutualism, increased capacity, and a wellspring of hope and inspiration. While this session will focus on rural watershed restoration and diversifying restoration tactics, the lessons you'll learn are applicable across focus areas for river-centric conservation and advocacy.
