Dam management and dam removal projects can be complex. Ecological goals, dam safety, economics, aesthetics, recreation, and regulation must all be considered and may conflict with each other. In this session, Huron Pines will present northern Michigan case studies of community engagement strategies used to incorporate stakeholder feedback in dam management and dam removal projects. This will include a discussion of long-term visioning for use of each site and surrounding land under various management alternatives.
