Navigating States' SRF Intended Use Plans

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

PARTICIPANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING THEIR LAPTOP TO THIS SESSION FOR HANDS-ON PARTICIPATION.

This learning lab will guide you through your state's Clean Water or Drinking Water Intended Use Plan (IUP). You'll learn about the information states are required to include in their IUPs, plus how to find and understand the information in your state's IUPs. You'll also learn about the different types of policy options your state could adopt to improve equitable allocation of SRF assistance. Finally, you'll brainstorm which state IUP issues to prioritize in public comments, as well as other strategies to engage your state SRF adminstrators beyond submitting comments.

In preparation for the workshop, please bring your laptop to the session, if possible. We will use our laptops to search for state IUPs and review specific sections to assess how a state defines Disadvantaged Communities and how states prioritize proposed funding for water infrastructure projects, for example.

My colleagues and I will guide you through a process where you can think critically about the details in these sections from an equity, transparency, and accessibility lens. We aim to help guide you through the complexities and jargon of the SRF world to build your capacity and confidence so that it bolsters your efforts.
