In this session, session leaders will provide an overview of hydropower in the U.S., teach you how to find the hydropower dams closest to you, and lay the groundwork on hydropower licensing. You'll be able to choose areas to explore more deeply through breakout groups, focused on issues including the environmental impacts of FERC-licensed hydropower projects and mitigation strategies, preliminary permits and Tribal protections to safeguard culturally significant rivers, and hydropower dam removal process and case studies.
